Saudi Arabia announced the launch of a shortened land route for movement between cities and governorates and with border countries.

Saudi media reported that the “Dhahran-Uqair-Salwa” road was implemented by the General Authority for Roads to shorten the travel time between cities and governorates and with border countries, the most important of which are the countries of Qatar and the Emirates, through a joint Gulf link, adding that the cost of the project amounted to 199 million riyals, with a length of 66 km. how much.

She added that the project includes the implementation of an intersection on the “Hofuf – Salwa” road, and also includes two bridges, and the implementation of 25 drainage facilities along the entire length of the project.

The Minister of Transport and Logistics, Engineer Saleh Al-Jasser, explained that the new road contributes to shortening an hour of travel time for those wishing to go to the countries of Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, in addition to transferring transit truck traffic to the border crossings.

He added that the project contributes to completing the connection of a number of main roads in the region (Dhahran-Jubail Road, Abu Hadriyah Road, Riyadh-Dammam Highway, Dhahran-Abqaiq-Al-Ahsa Road, and Al-Hofuf-Salwa Road), and developing the tourism movement of the historic Uqair Beach and Half Moon Beach.

Al-Jasser stressed that the road contributes to raising the Kingdom’s ranking in the Logistics Performance Index to be among the top 10 countries in the world.
