All the faces and names: In preparation for the day of remembrance for the fallen of Israel’s forces, the Department of Families, Commemoration and Heritage in the Ministry of Defense is launching a public awareness campaign, under the title “All of us together cherish the fallen of Israel’s forces and light a candle in their memory”.
The purpose of the campaign is to encourage the public to commemorate the martyrs of Israel’s systems through Lighting virtual memorial candles on the Yazkor website of the Ministry of Defense.
This year’s campaign is led by singer Danny Robbs, who performs his poem “Faces and Names” on his way from the roads surrounding Gaza to the State Memorial Hall on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. Robs sang the song together with the IDF orchestra, referring to the last journey of the martyrs for the defense of the homeland until reaching the memorial hall, which preserves the legacy of the thousands of fallen martyrs throughout the generations.
Robs is a bereaved brother: his brother, Yoav, died of cancer during his military service in the Lebanon War. His song ‘Faces and Names’ was published as part of his second album in 1987, and in his performances he says that he wrote the song about people who accompanied his life’s journey.
The video will be broadcast on television channels, digital channels and social networks and will invite the public to commemorate the fallen of Israel’s systems by lighting a memorial candle on the ‘Yizkor’ website, write a personal dedication to the fallen and share on social networks.
Surfers can light a personal candle for their loved ones (according to a search list from among all the fallen), or light a general memorial candle in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the homeland. In addition, it is also possible to add personal text and share on social networks.
