On February 18, Chairman of the Munich Security Conference Kristof Hoysgen had a meeting with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in Munich.
Publika.az reports that Kristof Hoysgen thanked the head of state for accepting the invitation and participating in the Munich Security Conference, and congratulated him on the occasion of COP29 being held in Azerbaijan.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the invitation to the Munich Security Conference and for the congratulations on COP29.
Christoph Heusgen noted that there is a comprehensive and comprehensive approach to security within the Munich Security Conference, so climate change is also considered part of the security concept. In this regard, he emphasized that, as the Secretariat of the Munich Security Conference, he is ready to cooperate with Azerbaijan within the framework of COP29 and to hold a joint event in our country during that session.
This proposal was gladly accepted by the head of our state. It was brought to the attention of the COP Organizing Committee of Azerbaijan that joint work will be carried out in this direction with the Secretariat of the Munich Security Conference.
President Ilham Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan is ready to work together with all international partners to make COP29 a result-oriented session. Currently, within the framework of the COP, a tripartite mechanism has been created, which brings together the United Arab Emirates, Azerbaijan and Brazil.
Regional issues were also discussed at the meeting. In this regard, the head of state said that he supports Azerbaijan’s peace agenda, the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and the signing of a peace treaty. In this regard, he pointed out that the meeting organized by the initiative of German Chancellor Olaf Shots was held in efficient and constructive conditions.
