Commerce State Minister Ahsanul Islam Titu said that Bangladesh Tariff Commission has proposed to NBR to reduce the duty-tax of daily necessities in the upcoming budget.

He said, I have made a proposal to reduce the duty on daily products, so that the duty on daily essential products is at a reasonable level, so that the common people do not suffer. Yesterday (Sunday) we also sat with NBR on this issue, we will sit tomorrow (Wednesday) too.

The Prime Minister is also aware of this. Tariffs on many essential goods are not there yet. We will have that effort before the budget so that the duties of other daily necessities are not burdened on us. said the Minister of State.

He said these things at the opening ceremony of TCB’s product sale program for the month of May among 1 crore family card holder low income families across the country on Tuesday (May 7). In the morning, he inaugurated this nationwide product sale program from Baridhara Park in the capital.

The state minister said on the occasion that it is proved that syndication will not be possible if the supply of products in the market is ensured. Through TCB, we are working to stock a buffer of essential products, where it will be possible to keep one-and-a-half month stock of products. We are also thinking of giving the products to the common people through the ration system as before.

He said that more new products will be added to TCB’s sales program in the future. By increasing the number of dealers, TCB shops will be established up to neighborhood-mahalla.

TCB card holders can buy up to two liters of soybean oil, five kg of rice and two kg of lentils under this program. In this, the price of soybean oil per liter is kept at 100 taka. Rice is being sold at Tk 30 and lentils at Tk 60 per kg.

TCB sells these products at subsidized prices among one crore low-income beneficiary families. Distributors are conducting the sale of TCB products as per the scheduled date and time with the cooperation of City Corporation and District-Upzilla Administration.
