Hugo Herrera criticizes Marcela Cubillos’ presidential springboard in Las Condes: she is “making a mistake”

“He is not just any person within the right. She is one of the founders, one of the oldest people in the UDI, and has the capacity to go to elections in different communes, especially in popular communes,
which is where it really becomes necessary to have good mayors, endowed with influence, resources, presence,” he said.

In that sense, he questioned why he doesn’t run in other communes “and stay with Las Condes, which is probably the richest commune in the country, where there are pure right-wing people, In the end you put a suit as a candidate and that suit is chosenthe challenge is not greater”

“It is serious that by virtue of this strange positioning, as I say, without institutionality involved, you have the right talking again about a commune, the richest in the country, about the commune that matters the least in electoral terms for the right. According to Herrera, Cubillos is doing the same thing that the former mayor Joaquín Lavínwho also used the municipality as a presidential springboard but failed in his idea. “Does she plan to do the same as Lavín? “You can get a presidential candidate with options from the richest commune in the country, as things are today. Chile is not the country of the nineties or the 2000s. We are in a post-explosion country where the causes of the outbreak, among others, the asymmetry that has been detected between rich and poor, between Santiago and the regions, are fully aware at the level popular,” he added.

“Marcela Cubillos was Minister of Education, she left the Ministry of Education, she left it to go to work at Libertad y Desarrollo, which is the center of large business in Chile.
