“From next year, the need criterion will be increased from 246 manats to 270 manats.”
Publika.az MP Vugar Bayramov wrote about this on his social network account.
He noted that determining the new need criterion is important in terms of increasing the monthly amount of targeted social assistance and expanding the application: “From this context, increasing the need criterion will lead to an increase in the amount of aid received by our citizens within the targeted social assistance program from next year. At the same time, as the need criterion has been increased, more families will be able to apply for targeted social assistance.”
According to the MP, if a family has 5 members and the official monthly income of that family is 800 manats, then this year 1230 manats (5 people X 246 manats) is calculated as the need criterion for that family, that is, the cost. At this time, the difference between the family’s expenses and income is 430 manats (1230 manats – 800 manats): “If that family has the right to apply for targeted social assistance, it can receive 430 AZN per month from the state within the framework of that program. But this number will increase next year. So, the need criterion for that family increases to 1350 manats from next year (5 people X 270 manats), and as a result, if the income of that family does not change, the monthly assistance received by that family is not 430 manats, but 550 manats (1350 manats – 800 manats). On the other hand, starting from 2024, it would be more appropriate to cancel the criterion of need and use only the subsistence minimum. At this time, it is more appropriate to use the living minimum criterion in the targeted social assistance program.”
