How much did natural gas prices increase? Statement from EPDK to clear up the misunderstanding

The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) made a statement regarding the increase in natural gas prices. In the statement made by EPDK, it was stated that “As it is known, the natural gas tariffs valid as of August 1, 2024 have been announced to the public by BOTAŞ. The increases of 33.1 percent and 38 percent stated in the statement in question are increases reflected in the unit gas purchase price.”

HOW MUCH HAS THE PRICE OF NATURAL GAS INCREASED?

The statement, which stated that the average effect of the 38 percent increase in the gas purchase price on housing prices throughout Turkey was 24.4 percent, included the following statements: “As a result, when the unit gas purchase price, system usage fee and taxes, which are the determinant in the final bill, are calculated, housing prices for Turkey have increased by an average of 24.4 percent. In other words, the price of 1 cubic meter of natural gas has finally increased from an average of 7.6 TL to 9.4 TL.”

FREE CONSUMER TARIFF FOR NATURAL GAS

It was stated in the statement that the sales price of natural gas used by free consumers with an annual consumption of 300 thousand cubic meters and below, excluding electricity generation, increased by an average of 28.7 percent throughout Turkey, and that the price of 1 cubic meter of natural gas for these consumers finally increased from an average of 11.8 TL to 15.2 TL.
