Regarding Israel’s killing of Fuad Shukur, one of Hezbollah’s top commanders, Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah said, “We have gone beyond being just a support front. This is an open war on all fronts. We have entered a new phase.”
Nasrallah attended the funeral ceremony of Shukur, a senior Hezbollah commander who was killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Dahiyeh district of the Lebanese capital Beirut on July 30, via video conference.
“LAUGH A LITTLE, THEN YOU WILL CRY A LOT”
Nasrallah, who stated that the clashes on the border have entered a new phase following Israel’s attack on Beirut, said, “We have gone beyond being just a support front. This is an open war on all fronts. We have entered a new phase.” Addressing Israel in his speech, Nasrallah warned, “You laugh a little but you will cry a lot and you do not know which line you have crossed, what kind of aggression you are committing. All support fronts have entered a new phase, but its escalation depends on the enemy’s (Israel) reaction.”
“WE HAVE NO CONNECTION WITH THE MECDEL SHEMS ATTACK”
Referring to the July 27 attack on the Druze town of Magdala Shams in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, for which Hezbollah was held responsible, Nasrallah said: “We have said before that we have no connection to this incident. We have claimed responsibility for all the actions we have taken so far. If we are wrong, we will admit it, but our internal investigation has confirmed that we had nothing to do with the missile.”
Nasrallah said Israel directly blamed Hezbollah without providing any evidence and used the incident as an excuse to kill Shukur and other civilians. Hezbollah leader said the missile that hit Majdal Shams was an interceptor missile launched by Israel’s air defense system. Nasrallah said the attack on Dahiyeh, Hezbollah’s stronghold in Beirut, was not a retaliation by Majdal Shams but part of the war and a response to the Lebanese support front.
AN IRANIAN NATIONAL DIED
Nasrallah reported that an Iranian national named Milad Badi was killed in the building where Shukur was shot, but did not provide any further details about the person. The Hezbollah Movement confirmed yesterday that its senior commander Fuad Shukur was killed in the Israeli army’s airstrike on Beirut on July 30. A total of seven people, three women and two children, were killed in the Israeli attack.
ISRAEL’S ASSASSINATION OF SUKKUR
The Israeli army announced on July 30 that it had killed Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukur in an airstrike on the Lebanese capital Beirut. The statement claimed that the attack was carried out by warplanes and that the commander who was killed was the “right-hand man” of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. It was also claimed that Shukur “had been directing attacks against Israel since October 8, 2023 and was responsible for the July 27 attack on Majdal Shams.”
The Israeli press also reported that Shukur had been appointed commander of Hezbollah’s “precision missile project” a few years ago. Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukur was among those on whose heads Washington had placed a bounty for his alleged role in the bombing of the US Marine Corps barracks in Beirut in 1983.
