Know how to teach math at the age of 2

Terrence Tao’s parents discovered he had special abilities when he was 2 years old. At the age when his peers were just babbling and talking, Tao taught a 5-year-old child to spell and do addition. What was more surprising was that Tao had not been taught by anyone before. He is completely self-taught while watching TV shows.

Even though they knew their son was a genius, his parents did not force Tao to study early. Instead, his parents let him go to school normally like his friends and develop naturally.

At the age of 9, Tao began taking college-level courses and quickly showed his talent. At that time, Tao was a special case when he scored 760/800 points on the SAT Math exam.

Thanks to his intelligence and hard work, Tao won dozens of awards. At the age of 10, he won a bronze medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad. 1 year later Tao won the silver medal. At the age of 13, the Chinese boy became the youngest contestant in history to win a gold medal.

Immediately after conquering the highest Olympic medal, Tao became a student at Flinders University at the age of 14 and graduated with honors after only 2 years of study.

During that time, Terence Tao wrote his first book, talking about methods and experiences in solving Math in IMO international Math exams.

In 1992, Tao was awarded a master’s degree and also received a postgraduate Fulbright scholarship.

At the age of 21, he received a doctorate from Princeton University (USA) and began teaching at the University of California. Here, Tao was awarded a professorship when he just turned 24 years old. The Asian boy is also the youngest person ever appointed to this position by the school.

Terence Tao is one of the three smartest people in the world with an IQ of up to 230, surpassing Einstein, Isaac Newton and Stephen Hawking. He is considered the most outstanding mathematician today.
