Former Premier League star and current Spanish Villarreal player Étienne Capoue (35) had a horror experience last week. A group of thieves broke into his house while he was having dinner with his wife and children in the dining room. Not one of the three uninvited guests has yet been found.

The French footballer transferred to the “Yellow Submarine”, as the team from eastern Spain is called, three years ago. He became an instant fan favorite, helped by his contribution to winning the Europa League. However, he also had an unpleasant experience at Villarreal.

Last Thursday he dined in the dining room together with his wife and children. However, out of nowhere, he heard noises from the upper floor of the house, which is located in the luxurious suburb of Betera, and decided to go and check the situation. To his surprise, he saw a thief in one of the rooms, who was quickly trying to find some valuables.

But he probably didn’t know that he was in the house of a 189-centimeter-tall midfielder who managed to pick up six yellow cards in twenty-three league games this season. Capoue confronted the thief and he had no choice but to escape through the open window. The native of Niort then noticed that there were two other men in the garden who ran away at the same time.

The ex-Tottenham and Watford player scared his wife and three young children, but fortunately they are fine. According to the latest information, the uninvited guests did not even manage to steal anything. Organized groups often try to get into the houses of well-known football players because they know when the house is empty thanks to matches. However, according to the initial investigation, it seems that this time the amateur robbers chose the location at random.
