On the eve of the elections held on February 7, 2024, the expectations of a number of international organizations, including PACE, and certain circles of France and the United States and relying on them, who “hopefully” wished for different results, were shattered.
Publika.az informs that in his statement to Akhar.az, head of “Telegraf” Media Group, political scientist Aynur Jamal said these words while talking to President Ilham Aliyev about his post-election statements.
He said that he predicted that the increased pressure on Azerbaijan, especially since the end of last year, will subside significantly immediately after the election.
“Actually, one of the reasons for the postponement of the presidential elections by more than 1 year was the desire of Azerbaijan to be fully ready for it and to neutralize the pressures on the eve of the formation of the new world order, and this was precisely calculated. On the eve of the election, even after the election, the propagandists of the hostile information space were caught up in the “hope” that the big powers would seriously delay their congratulations to Ilham Aliyev or that they would not be congratulated at all. However, on the same election day, shortly after the closing of polling stations, congratulatory calls and letters from many countries of the world, including China, showed the wishes of those who took a stand against Azerbaijan. Just two days later, the President of the EU Council called Ilham Aliyev directly, which was a de jure acknowledgment that the Azerbaijani leader is a de facto regional player. “All international powers were forced to admit once again that it is impossible to implement any project in the region without Ilham Aliyev.”
According to A. Jamal, it was impossible not to observe the special activity of the people in the elections, high level of organization, great trust of the voters in Ilham Aliyev:
“The US Embassy and other powers, who shared the two-sentence “negative opinion” of the OSCE-ODIHR observation mission and the “ambition of non-alternativeness” of that mission, know this, and it is no coincidence that the analytical centers of the West have already begun to openly write about it. The famous Carnegie Foundation analyst, Caucasian scholar Thomas De Waal’s special emphasis on the fact that Ilham Aliyev feels confident and confident at the level he has never seen before is also related to the people’s support. This is not only support for Ilham Aliyev, but in a big sense it is the love of the people, and this love allows Ilham Aliyev to confidently and decisively step towards new national goals.
The political scientist once again brought up the warning of the European political centers to lower the rating of Ilham Aliyev in order to put pressure on the Armenian diaspora in 2021:
“It was after this statement and opinion that large-scale campaigns against Ilham Aliyev began, including “our own” funded by Armenian sources who tried to influence minds with claims that the victory was incomplete. However, after September 20, 2023, these claims completely disappeared, and the February 7, 2024 election confirmed that the propaganda campaign carried out by the Armenian diaspora and some Western centers for nearly 3 years was a complete failure. Even the plan of sabotage set up on the day of the election, allegedly “recording the facts of election fraud”, did not work: those who tried to find flaws in the elections with a large amount of money could not reveal any serious facts, and this was a complete failure of the established games. The lack of arguments opened the way for confessions.
A. Jamal said that despite the fact that only 8 days have passed since the election, European countries, including Germany, have already congratulated Ilham Aliyev:
“Only 8 days have passed since the election, and the geography of congratulations to President Ilham Aliyev is amazing. The only exception is France, the reasons for which are well known to everyone. Germany, the leading economic power of the EU, which also shares France’s capabilities in terms of political power, congratulated the Azerbaijani leader at the level of the chancellor and invited the Azerbaijani leader to the Munich Security Conference. This is a political recognition of the special role of the Azerbaijani leader in the security architecture of Europe.”
The political scientist emphasized that it is no coincidence that all international analysts focus on Ilham Aliyev in their forecasts about the South Caucasus.
“Everyone was waiting for the position of Ilham Aliyev, the confident leader of Azerbaijan, the assertive power of the region. Should Ilham Aliyev have made a “choice”? It did, and it was neither the EU nor Russia: the term “Turkish family” was not only included in the political lexicon, but also marked the “side” chosen by Azerbaijan: this is a new power, and here Azerbaijan is no longer on someone’s side, but on its own side, in its own family. and it is one of those who form this power.”
