Hockey India announces inaugural National Women’s Hockey League 2024 – 2025

New Delhi: Hockey India on Tuesday unveiled another unprecedented initiative, the National Women’s Hockey League 2024 – 2025, marking a significant milestone in the country’s sporting landscape. The league is divided into two phases, with the inaugural phase taking place from April 30 to May 9 in Ranchi, Jharkhand. All matches during this phase will be held at the Jaipal Singh Astroturf Hockey Stadium in Marang Gomke which recently hosted the FIH Olympics. Qualifiers and Women’s Asian Champions Trophy were held.

The National Women’s Hockey League is the first domestic women’s league of its kind in India, which promises to be a spectacular showcase of talent and skill. With an aim to provide a platform for budding athletes and raise the stature of women’s hockey in the country, the league will see intense competition between the top state teams who finished in the top eight at the 14th Hockey India Senior Women’s National Championship.

Following the conclusion of the 14th Hockey India Senior Women’s National Championship, the top eight state teams that have made it to the inaugural season of the National Women’s Hockey League are – Hockey Haryana, Hockey Maharashtra, Hockey Jharkhand, Hockey Madhya Pradesh, Hockey Bengal, Hockey Mizoram, Manipur Hockey and the Hockey Association of Odisha reflect his excellent performance and commitment towards the game.

The league will also open its doors to young talent, with players under the age of 21 years eligible to participate. This induction of young players underlines Hockey India’s dedication to nurturing talent and promoting development at the grassroots level. The National Women’s Hockey League holds huge potential in not only raising the level of women’s hockey but also in inspiring the next generation of athletes across the country.
