Heating subsidies 2024. What types of heating are subsidized this year?
In previous years, people struggling with high heating costs were eligible for financial support from the state. This year is no different. However, you should know that when it comes to heating subsidies, 2024 is the year in many cases the scope of assistance will be reduced compared to before. Which types of heating are subsidized this year? In total, this year, people who can count on subsidies, allowances and price freezes will mainly benefit from:
gas heating,
electric heating (including heat pumps),
system heat.
In turn, people who use coal heating should be primarily interested in subsidies for boiler replacement.
Freezing energy prices in 2024 will help pay the bills
To help manage heating and other expenses, the government has extended the energy price freeze. In 2024 electricity, gas and heat prices will not change until the end of Junewhich will protect consumers from a drastic increase in household bills during and immediately following the heating season.
Those who use electric heating will be happy to know that, as long as the consumption limit is not exceeded, maximum electricity price will amount to PLN 412/MWh (after exceeding the limit – PLN 693/MWh). These limits are:
1.5 MWh for families,
1.8 MWh for families with a disabled person,
2 MWh for holders of Large Family Cards and farmers.
It is therefore a form of subsidy for electric heating, which however is not transferred to the account, but deducted from the price of energy.
On the other hand System heating prices will remain at the 2023 level until the end of June 2024. It can therefore be said that heating subsidies in the block will also be valid in 2024. Heat suppliers must apply the most favorable tariff possible (calculated according to the principles established by law) to each customer. Will there be a carbon quota in 2024? Is there a second carbon additive?
Many people in Poland heat their homes with coal, which is why many are wondering whether there will be a coal allowance in 2024 that would make it easier to buy fuel. Unfortunately, at the moment there are no plans to introduce a carbon quota this year. Last year the previous government had clearly stated that there would be no subsidies for coal. The new government could theoretically change its mind, but there are no indications yet. You can find out more in the article on the carbon quota 2023/2024.
We remind you that the carbon allowance was introduced in 2022 due to the extremely high prices of this fuel and the difficulties in purchasing it. However, since the market situation stabilized in 2023, it was not necessary to subsidize the purchase of coal again, according to the government.
Who can request the 2024 gas voucher? Will there be subsidies for gas heating?
Gas heating is one of the most popular types of heating in Poland, which means that many families rely on financial support for this heat source. Those who use natural gas heating can count on the 2024 gas allowance, or the possibility of obtaining a VAT refund on the price of gas. This option was supposed to disappear at the end of last year, but has been extended until the end of June 2024.
To obtain the 2024 gas allowance you must meet the following requirements income criterion. Financial support is available to families whose average monthly income per capita does not exceed:
PLN 2,100 per person (single family),
PLN 1,500 per person (family of several people).
Furthermore, to be eligible for financial support, the house must be heated with a gas boiler registered in the central building emissions register. It must also be the main heat source in the building. Application for the 2024 gas allowance must be presented by September 30, 2024 to the office of your municipality.

Is it possible to get a pellet allowance for 2024?
Anyone who uses pellet heating is out of luck. Just like last year, in 2024 the pellet allowance will not be paid. However, this type of heating is relatively unpopular in Poland. You can still request financing for a pellet stove.
Coverage allowance 2024. Will there be a coverage allowance this year?
The protection allowance, introduced in 2022, was a one-off benefit intended to help Poles during the period of higher prices. In 2023 this benefit disappeared, but now it returns: the 2024 coverage allowance is already in effect and will be valid until the end of June this year. This means those eligible for assistance have six months to apply for the 2024 shielding allowance.
To obtain the coverage allowance you must meet: income criterion. It is identical to the gas allowance, i.e. the per capita monthly income not exceeding PLN 2,100 in a family of one person and PLN 1,500 in a family of several people.
It’s also worth mentioning How much is the 2024 coverage allowance?. Currently the amounts are about half lower than in 2022, because the allowance covers six months and not the entire year. The amount of the 2024 coverage allowance obtainable is:
PLN 228.80 for a family of one person,
PLN 343.20 for a family of 2 or 3 people,
PLN 486.20 for a family of 4-5 people,
PLN 657.80 for a family of at least 6 people.

If you want to reduce your heating costs, a new heating appliance is also worth considering, especially if you were using an older, inefficient solid fuel boiler. It is worth mentioning the possibility of obtaining financing for the replacement of the oven. 2024 is the year several are available programs that offer subsidies:

The most popular, like every year, will certainly be the first of these options. No more wondering if there will be a Clean Air program in 2024 – The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management has confirmed the next edition of Clean Air in 2024. Details are not yet known, but the program is expected to begin in the first quarter of this year. We remind you that it allows you to obtain funds for the replacement of the oven and the purchase and installation of a new heating appliance, including: heat pump or pellet boiler. The Moje Prąd 2024 program has also been confirmed. Although it is mainly used to finance the purchase of photovoltaic systems, Moje Prąd can also provide a subsidy for the purchase of a heat pump. This is an option worth considering for those who want to replace an old coal stove with something more environmentally friendly and economical. In turn, or regional subsidy programs for oven replacement ask your municipal office. Some cities offer financial assistance to get rid of the “Cinderella”. It is often possible to get up to 100% financing, but you usually need to meet certain criteria (e.g. income) to receive support.
