He is Gattuso’s successor at Marseille

THE Marseillewho were beaten 1-0 by Brest, are now on a six-match winless streak (D2 L4) and the French club’s management have shown the door to Gennaro Gattuso and agreed a deal with Louis Gaschet.

The 70-year-old French coach, who last month resigned as Ivory Coast coach after the Africa Cup of Nations, has already signed a contract until the end of the season, with an option to renew for another year.

Gasse will be on the Marseille side’s bench for Thursday’s Europa League knockout play-off second leg against Shakhtar Donetsk at the Vélodrome (2-2 first leg).

The experienced coach, a long-time assistant to Laurent Blanc, was previously on the bench at Montpellier, Caen, Istres, Saint-Etienne and Bordeaux, before taking up the post of national coach at Ivory Coast for two years (2022-24).
