He flew to Paris hidden in the frame. Doctors are fighting for his life

Doctors are fighting for the life of a man found in the undercarriage of a plane headed to Paris from Algeria. The stowaway is in a state of hypothermia: the temperature at an altitude of around 10,000 meters is minus 50 degrees Celsius.

The man, aged in his 20s, was found in the landing gear compartment after the plane from Oran, Algeria, landed at Orly airport in Paris. This trip lasts 2.5 hours.

He was unconscious, but alive, the services say. He was taken to hospital suffering from hypothermia. Doctors describe his condition as critical.

Commercial machines fly at an altitude of about 10,000 meters. At this temperature the temperature is minus 50 degrees Celsius, the air is thin and there is no oxygen.

Statistics show that between 1947 and 2021, 132 people decided to undertake such a risky journey. The risk of death is estimated at 77%.

The media remember the macabre case of 2015. The body of a stowaway from a plane landing at Heathrow fell on the roof of a shop in London. The plane was leaving from Johannesburg. The companion of the deceased was found in the landing gear – this man miraculously survived the 10-hour flight.

Four years later, the frozen body of a man fell from a plane flying from Kenya into the garden of a house on the outskirts of the British capital. The owner of the property was sunbathing on a deckchair a few meters away.
