Russian figure skater Alena Kostornajová (20) is probably experiencing the most difficult period of her short career. Recently, she leaned hard on her trainer Eteri Tutberidze (49), who allegedly forced her to train even with a broken arm. After the subsequent refusal, she was expelled from the team.
The young European champion revealed the circumstances surrounding the second interruption of cooperation with the legendary coach Eteri Tutberidze. In an interview with Liasan Utyasheva, she said that she broke her hand, which caused her to miss the pre-Olympic championship of Russia. Subsequently, a cast was put on her arm, with which the trainers forced her to practice complex jumps, which Kostornajová refused.
“I’ve been told I’m a jerk, that I don’t respect anyone’s work, not my parents, not my coaches, how dare I refuse to work,” said the native of Moscow. She then added that she trained with the cast for a few more days, but soon broke her other arm after taking it off, which probably pissed off the management.
“You are broken and broken. You don’t want to work, you don’t want to be interested in us? Then we don’t want to work with you either. That means you’re fired,” revealed Kostornajová in an interview in which she complained about the horrible behavior of her team. Finally, the young figure skater was helped by the federation, which after listening to her desire to continue to devote herself to this sport, allowed her to transfer to CSKA.
In addition to winning the European Championship, Kostornajová is also a junior vice-champion of the world and a six-time Grand Prix medalist. Her partner in pair figure skating is Georgy Kunitsa, who is also her husband. However, they have not yet achieved joint success.
