Mentioning ‘Rohingya repatriation’ as one of the main problems of Bangladesh, Jonaid Saki, one of the leaders of Democracy Manch and the main coordinator of Mass Solidarity Movement, said, ‘This government has not been able to do anything about the Rohingya crisis as it needed to be internationalized. This government talks about their friendly relations with India, with China. But this government could not use even a little bit of friendship with these countries to repatriate Rohingyas. India, China; Even Russia is a friend of Myanmar on the issue of Rohingya repatriation, not Bangladesh.
He said this at a rally and protest march against ‘rising commodity prices and unprotected borders’ organized by the Democracy Forum in front of the National Press Club on Friday (February 9).
Jonaid Saki said, ‘With the renewal of power, the so-called foreign minister went to Delhi to visit Kadambusi. They went to show gratitude for the power they have. That’s why India today is claiming our country’s traditional Tangail saree as its own. When the foreign minister was asked about this, he said – Tangail saree is a very small issue. We have solved the problem of many big issues.’
Foreign Minister to India. Complaining that Hasan Mahmud could not question any interest of Bangladesh, Jonaid Saki said, ‘Our BGB is killed on the border but cannot even protest. Today, they could not tell all the interests of our country in terms of river water, trade interests, all relations of Bangladesh.
He also said, ‘Suppression of the opposition now has become like the days of Pakistan. Awami League does not have the minimum power to tolerate the opposition.
Mahmudur Rahman Manna, president of Nagorika Oikya, said, ‘The country will not improve as long as this government is there. This government is misleading the people of the country by lying about votes, lying about the country, lying about reserves. Awami League people are doing syndicates in all parts of the country. No one from BNP is doing syndicate. Our fight is not to remove Awami League and bring BNP to power, our fight is to give the people a beautiful country.’
He also said, ‘The government says we are self-sufficient in food. If that is the case, then why the moaning of Bubuksu people behind the truck of TCB, OMS? This government lies constantly. They want to stay in power by telling lies.’
Advocate Hasnat Qayyum, chief coordinator of the State Reform Movement, said, “If arms are bought from India, what is happening on the border today will happen more. The government has ended the judiciary of Bangladesh, ending the army, ending the BGB. And made Bangladesh a vulnerable country.’
