Google Pixel Fold 2 expected to have a bigger display

Technology: Google’s much-awaited Pixel Fold 2 is becoming the talk of the town in the tech world, with recent leaks indicating significant upgrades over its predecessor. Well-known industry analyst Ross Young, now part of Counterpoint Research, has highlighted some key details, suggesting that Google’s next foldable phone will indeed be “bigger” in terms of screen size.

Initial leaks speculated a 7.9-inch internal foldable screen for the Pixel Fold 2. However, Young’s insights, shared on social media platform X, indicate a substantial increase in the internal flexible panel to 8.02 inches. This size increase represents a notable increase from the 7.6-inch OLED display found in the first-generation Pixel Fold.

Additionally, the previous estimate for the cover screen size has been adjusted from 6.4 inches to 6.29 inches, which still represents a significant improvement over its predecessor’s 5.8-inch external display. The report adds that in addition to the display upgrade, the Pixel Fold 2’s design has been improved, including flattened edges and a sleeker profile inspired by OnePlus’ open aesthetic. The trimmed bezels and two-tone appearance may contribute to an overall more attractive look.

Reports suggest that the Pixel Fold 2 could redefine slimness in its segment, with its thin profile rumored to measure just 10.54mm. Under the hood, speculation points to Google’s adoption of the next-generation Tensor G4 chip, which promises better performance.

While details regarding the Pixel Fold 2’s camera and internal hardware are unknown, the anticipated revisions fuel speculation of a possible price increase. Tech lovers are anxiously awaiting further details as Google prepares to unveil its latest foldable device.
