Gamarra Registry worker dies

The authorities confirmed the death of Duperlys Arévalo Carrascal, who was a public accountant, and was the victim of the fire arson this Saturday morning at the headquarters of the Registry in the municipality of Gamarra, south of Cesar.

This action was caused in the midst of protests and demonstrations in rejection of the disqualification made by the National Electoral Council, of the candidate Fernando Márquez Antier, who aspired to be the Municipal Mayor.

Arévalo Carrascal suffered serious injuries to her extremities and when she was taken from the Registry Office she was transferred to the Local Hospital where she died. Like her, another official and two police officers suffered burn injuries, and were transferred to Aguachica.

Regarding these events, the Secretary of the Departmental Government, Eduardo Esquivel, indicated that the Government offers 50 million pesos as a reward for information on those responsible for the fire.

For his part, the national registrar, Alexander Vega Rocha, from the Unified Command Post of the National Police in Bogotá (PMU), analyzes the acts of violence.

While the director of the Police, General William René Salamanca, ordered the immediate capture and prosecution of the material and intellectual authors of the events.
