It’s nice outside, we can go on trips. But we are starting to pay more and more money for traveling by car. The average price of gasoline climbs to 40 CZK/l. In Prague and on the highways it is already 41.40. And it doesn’t get any better.
Already on Wednesday, drivers refueled with Natural 95 for an average of CZK 39.77, while at the end of March it was one crown cheaper, and diesel for CZK 39.12.
“Behind the price increase is the increase in demand associated with positive economic development. Persistent geopolitical risks and problems in international shipping also have an impact,” explained XTB analyst Jiří Tyleček.
It looks like it’s only going to get worse. “Given the relatively high price of oil and the significant weakening of the koruna against the dollar, we must expect an acceleration of price increases,” said Lukáš Kovanda, Trinity Bank economist.
The average price of gasoline was above CZK 40 last year on October 9. At the current rate, he’ll beat her again this week. “In the next week it will go up by about 80 pennies, diesel by about 60 pennies,” added Kovanda.
