Inspired by these texts, several literary works have recently made the leap to the big screen in film productions, coming to life in a totally new way. Such is the case of the new original HBO production, The Sympathizer, just released on MAX.

Based on the novel of the same name by Viet Thanh Nguyen, winner of the Pulitzer Prize, the series talks about espionage with a tone of intercultural satire over seven episodes, in an authentic journey to the last days of the Vietnam War, ideal for those who want to be inspired, discover new realities and venture into a different universe. Inspired by this release that took the imagination from the pages to series and movies, we selected some stories based on iconic literary works. THE SYMPATHIST

Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book of the same name by Viet Thanh Nguyen, the miniseries follows the life of a communist spy, half French, half Vietnamese, in the tumultuous days at the end of the Vietnam War. The plot follows his journey as a refugee in Los Angeles, where he discovers that his past as a spy still haunts him.

GAME OF THRONES

Inspired by the acclaimed A Song of Ice and Fire book series by George RR Martin, Game Of Thrones is an epic saga set in a medieval fantasy world, where diverse noble families fight for control of the Iron Throne and dominance. about the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. Political intrigues intertwine with epic battles, revealing complex characters in the midst of a universe full of conflict and ambition.

THE HOUSE OF THE DRAGON

Another George RR Martin classic that received an adaptation was The House of the Dragon, a series based on the author’s book Fire and Blood. In this prequel to the Game Of Thrones universe, the narrative focuses on the Targaryen family, 100 years after the Seven Kingdoms were united by Aegon, the Conqueror. Adapted from the book of the same name by Liane Moriarty, Big Little Lies is a drama series that takes place in Monterey, California, and revolves around the lives of a group of mothers whose seemingly perfect lives hide dark secrets. The series addresses topics such as motherhood, abusive relationships, and rivalries between women.

SHARO OBJECTS

Based on the novel by Gillian Flynn, Sharp Objects is a psychological thriller that follows reporter “Camille Preaker” (Amy Adams), who returns to her hometown to investigate the murder of two teenagers. However, “Preaker” ends up confronting her dark and complex past as she dives into the depths of the investigation.

THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT

Based on Chris Bohjalian’s book of the same name, The Flight Attendant is a thriller series that follows the life of “Cassie Bowden” (played by Kaley Cuoco), a flight attendant who becomes embroiled in a web of lies and murder after a night out in Bangkok. The series combines elements of mystery, acid humor and drama to tell the story of Cassie’s search for the truth and her fight against her own demons.
