Vienna (OTS) For the liberal health spokesman and chairman of the parliamentary health committee NAbg. According to Mag. Gerhard Kaniak, the regulation of the Green Health Minister Rauch, according to which elective doctors must now carry out their patients’ health insurance reimbursements themselves, is “a crystal-clear bashing of elective physicians and an expression of complete helplessness.”

Instead of a profound healthcare reform, with important topics such as the MTD law, the paramedic law or a training reform for doctors, unfortunately nothing is happening. The very few and rare bright spots are evidence that even a broken clock shows the correct time twice a day. “The crown of the Green Minister’s health policy atrocities is certainly the ‘Death Commission’, which is supposed to decide about life and death in expensive treatments in the ministry,” recalled Kaniak.

According to Kaniak, Rauch lacks effective suggestions when it comes to “choice doctors” to make the lives of doctors and patients easier. “Increasing the bureaucracy at the doctor’s choice will certainly increase the treatment costs – but the patient still only gets 80 percent of the comparable health insurance rate anyway. This means it will be more expensive for the patient and he will think three times about which doctor he will seek treatment from – and that is the minister’s perfidious plan,” said the FPÖ health spokesman.

“The liberal motions and suggestions on all of these topics were postponed, put on the back burner and shelved by the black-green misery government. There are still 261 positions for statutory health insurance physicians across Austria that have been vacant for more than a year. However, the solutions are obvious, such as financial fairness for all employees in the health care system, de-bureaucratization and expansion of skills in the professional fields of the health care system, the continued employment of older statutory health insurance physicians and expansion of training, a nationwide uniform scholarship system for professional training, and the integration of elective doctors into the cash register system and lifting the ban on dual employment,” Kaniak listed a few liberal suggestions.
