Vienna (OTS) – “The latest idea from the Green Health Minister Rauch just makes you shake your head. The minister would like to make it mandatory, i.e. enforce, to go to a general practitioner before seeing a specialist. “Planning such a step when there is a shortage of resident doctors borders on a disaster and would cause the private practice sector to collapse,” reacted the liberal health spokesman and chairman of the parliamentary health committee NAbg today. Mag. Gerhard Kaniak on relevant media reports.
This absurd idea comes from the deputy chairman of the ÖGK, but the minister does not object and would like to examine and conclude the matter by the summer. “But that’s the good thing about it: if Rauch thinks he wants to complete something by a fixed date, it will easily take another six months and then Austria will have already voted out this worst federal government of all time,” said Kaniak.
“In times like these, with few doctors and a lack of staff, wanting to destroy the few remaining with additional work can only come from the classic socialist catalog of ideas. The only hope is that Rauch is as lame in this implementation as in all other areas,” emphasized Kaniak.
