A great party was held yesterday in the main arteries of the city, with the celebration of the META 10 K Athletic Race, organized by Industrias Peñoles, in the middle of an unbeatable atmosphere.
The competition was won by Miguel Ángel Hernández Rubio from Zacatecas in the men’s category, with a time of 30 minutes and 55 seconds, while in the women’s category, the winner was the Kenyan Beatrice Kemunto Gesabwa.
The experienced athlete from Zacatecas, won a great duel throughout the journey, against the local youth Jared Serrano Rivera (31:19), while Bonyface Kangoho (31:26) from Kenya, came third, in a test that included a large number of specialists at the distance of 10 kilometers.
As for the women’s branch, the winners’ podium was taken over by representatives of the African continent. The winner in an exciting finish was Beatrice Kemunto Gesabwa (36:27), beating Caroline Jebiwot Kiptoo by one second who was the runner-up and Rose Jepkorir, third, with 36 minutes and 43 seconds.
Serrano Rivera was the winner in the men’s Freestyle, followed by José Juan Navarro (32:37) and Roberto Aguilar (34:30), while in the ladies, the African legion took the honors with Jepkorir, leaving second to Marceline Kipkemol (38:30) and Mochama Bosibori (38:52) in third place.
Regarding the Master, the first to cross the FINISH line was Cuauhtémoc Ibarra (31:38), the former three-time Lala Marathon champion, Daniel Ortiz Pérez (33:26), came second, and Christian Zamora Tovar from Llerda came third (34: 22).
In women, Rosa Elena Miranda Herrera (43:13) was first, Claudia Sánchez (45:26) second and Wendy Morales (51:27), third.
