Six games, three wins, three draws and no defeats, this is the balance of the Angolan team Petro de Luanda in the group stage of the African Champions League.

In the sixth and final round of the group stage, Petro de Luanda beat Tunisians Étoile du Sahel 2-0 at the 11 de Novembro Stadium, in the Angolan capital.
The Tricolores’ goals were scored by Honduran Jonathan Toro, in the 38th minute, and by Angolan Julinho, in the 71st minute of the game.
A third victory that allowed the oil companies to finish first in group C with 12 points.
Petro de Luanda did not lose any matches and did not concede a goal in the group stage, a record for the Angolan team.
In second place, and equally qualified, ended up Espérance de Tunes, the Tunisian team, with eleven points, after having won 1-0 against the Sudanese side Al-Hilal Omdurman.
The Sudanese from Al-Hilal Omdurman and the Tunisians from Étoile du Sahel finished in 3rd and 4th place respectively with five and four points, being eliminated from the competition.
In the quarter-finals, the teams that finished first – Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), ASEC Mimosas (Ivory Coast), Al Ahly (Egypt) and Petro de Luanda (Angola) – will now face the runners-up – TP Mazembe (DR Congo), Simba (Tanzania), Young Africans (Tanzania) and Espérance de Tunes (Tunisia).
The draw will take place on March 12th.
It should be noted that in the African Champions League, Petro de Luanda has already reached the semi-finals twice in 2001 and 2022. In 2001, the oil companies lost 0-2 in the first leg against Mamelodi Sundowns, but won 2- 0 at home, only being defeated 3-5 on penalties against the South African team.
In 2022, the tricolor team lost 1-3, at home in Luanda, against Moroccans Wydad de Casablanca, before drawing in the second leg in Moroccan territory to 1-1, being eliminated.
