After previously insulting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and expressing his support for Russia in the war with Ukraine, former Fox News host Tucker Carlson has been spotted in Moscow. There is plenty of speculation that the controversial American presenter is there to interview Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Kremlin declined comment.

Last weekend it became known via messages and a photo on Telegram that Carlson is in Moscow. Rumors soon followed about the purpose of his stay in Russia: according to unconfirmed reports, he wanted to interview the president.

The Kremlin reacts with restraint. “A lot of foreign journalists come to Russia. Many continue to work here, and we welcome this,” government spokesman Dmitry Peskov responded to questions about Carlson. The Kremlin spokesman declined to comment on reports that the American may be interviewing President Vladimir Putin. “We have nothing to announce regarding the president’s interviews with foreign media.”

Shortly after his (forced) departure from Fox News, the ultra-conservative Tucker Carlson announced that no one would silence him and that he would independently create a new version of his program – a ratings cannon in the US. Elon Musk promptly invited him to use Twitter, now renamed X, as a new platform. In the meantime, he also distributes his interviews via his own website Tuckercarlson.com.

His videos, a shorter version of his former show on Fox News, typically have more than ten million views. He has already interviewed Donald Trump and Trump supporters such as Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, but also actor Russell Brand.

Obama meth sex

In another interview, he spoke extensively about a man who claims he used crack and had sex with former American president Barack Obama. He also interviewed the extremely controversial conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. The interview alleges that Jones predicted the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 “months before” and that the US military staged them.

It is not entirely clear why Carlson had to resign from Fox News, where he was by far the most popular face. A number of leaked text messages probably played a role.

Just days before his resignation, Fox had paid just under a billion dollars to Dominion Voting Systems to settle a complaint over false allegations of election fraud. Numerous text messages from Carlson had surfaced as part of that lawsuit. It showed, among other things, that he had criticized the management of Fox News, but it also included racist statements.
