JAKARTA Indonesia’s new men’s doubles Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin, admitted that they did not encounter any significant difficulties ahead of their debut at the 2024 Japan Open. Fikri/Daniel felt this because they were often paired during training.

Fikri/Daniel became one of Indonesia’s new pairs after a pair swap. In addition to Fikri/Daniel, Bagas Maulana/Leo Rolly Carnando were also united at the 2024 Japan Open.

Both Fikri and Daniel admitted that he was not too surprised when he was paired with a different partner because in training he often swapped partners.

“How does it feel (partnering with Fikri)? It’s just so-so,” Daniel told the media crew, including at the PBSI Cipayung National Training Center, Saturday (17/8/2024).

“There is nothing different. It’s the same. The problem is that we often change partners (in training) so it’s not too surprising and we just work together to get the best results,” added Daniel.

However, they do not deny that there are differences with their previous partners. Both must adapt to align their playing style.

“There are definitely differences. The way they play is almost similar (Fikri and Daniel). It’s just the finishing that needs to be improved and studied,” added Daniel.

“The adaptation is definitely there, but because we often rotate the partners in training, it’s not that difficult either. It’s just that there is a difference between Daniel and Bagas,” Fikri concluded.
