Leaders of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the apex organization of businessmen, visited the building damaged by the terrible fire at Bailey Road in the capital. He said, all those who have been negligent in this accident should be brought under punishment. Those whose negligence led to the loss of so many lives must be punished appropriately. Whether those involved in this accident are businessmen or government institutions concerned with building compliance assurance and supervision; In real sense, those who have caused this accident due to their negligence and indifference should be brought under strict punishment.

Some are blaming businessmen for the spate of fires – Responding to questions from reporters, the senior vice-president of FBCCI said that before the fire at Bailey Road, the building was declared unsafe, but no follow-up was done afterwards. Before the accident there was an opportunity to take legal action. If any businessman is found guilty in real sense, then disciplinary action must be taken against him.

He urged the concerned institutions to analyze and test the buildings well before giving the compliance certificate to the commercial buildings and give the certificate. He urged all concerned to identify the areas where there are weaknesses and take necessary measures so that similar incidents are not repeated in the future.

Also present during the visit were FBCCI Vice President and FBCCI Crisis Management Committee Chairman Mohammad Anwar Sadat Sarkar, FBCCI Safety Council Advisor Brigadier General (Retd.) Abu Naeem Md. Shahid Ullah and others.
