There is perhaps no worse thing in a parent’s life than when a child dies. Samson Cheruiyot, whose son and world record holder in the marathon Kelvin Kiptum (†24), tragically died in a car accident, died at the end of last week. But his dad has now called for an investigation into his death. He confided in a very chilling experience!

For Samson Cheruiyot, Sunday night was like any other. He was watching the news at home, slowly getting ready for the start of the new week, when he heard the devastating news that changed his life forever. His son and marathon world record holder Kelvin Kiptum is dead! “I learned about my son’s death while watching the news,” said a devastated Samson, according to the British tabloid Daily Mail.

A successful athlete crashed his Toyota into a tree in Kenya’s Kaptagat region and was dead on the spot. His coach Gervais Hakizimana (†36) also died with him. Passenger Sharon Chepkemoi (32) luckily survived the accident and was taken to a hospital in Eldoret, according to the Daily Mail.

The accident is not a coincidence?

But Samson suspects that this was no accident. He called the police to investigate. Why? “Recently some men came to us looking for Kiptum but refused to identify themselves,” Samson said, according to the British press. “I asked them to identify themselves, but they preferred to leave. It was a group of four,” the father of the dead athlete confided about the chilling experience.

After learning about the death of his beloved son, Samson immediately went to the scene of the accident. There the police told him that Kelvin’s body had been taken to Eldoret town. “Kiptum was my only child. He left me, his mother and his children. I had no other child besides him. His mom had been ill for some time. I am deeply saddened,” the marathon star’s father mourned. Will the police open an investigation into the death of his dead son?
