A mobile court sentenced a ‘fake doctor’ to three months imprisonment in Chandina Upazila of Comilla. Besides, the hospital owned by the person has been declared closed due to various irregularities. The said doctor’s house was being run as a hospital with chambers and patient beds.
Executive Magistrate and Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Jaber said that the Laxmipur Medical Center Hospital adjacent to Kailain Old Market of Joag Union of Upazila will remain closed until further notice on Saturday (February 10) afternoon. swipe
Upazila administration has informed that Khalilur Rahman Palash was fined one lakh taka for falsely using the title of ‘doctor’ and giving prescriptions to patients. Apart from this, Khalilur Rahman Palash, the owner of the company, was sentenced to three months imprisonment for selling expired and government medicines, endangering the life of the service recipient, operating equipment without a technician, keeping food with medical reagents in the refrigerator, not having chambers and beds for patients at home, and waste management. Meanwhile, Madhaiya General Hospital, Laxmipur New Bazar GM Medical Center, Badarpur West Bazar Joy Medical and Diagnostic Center have been sealed due to various mismanagement.
UNO Jaber Md. Swaib said that the upazila health and family planning department is regularly monitoring the activities of private clinics and diagnostic centers. The mobile court is being run after informing the upazila administration.
Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Md. Arifur Rahman, Junior Consultant Mostafa Manowar Kaushik along with Chandina policemen were present.
