The claim of objectionable remarks against the business community in the name of Amit Shah is fake and election propaganda. The statement going viral in his name is fabricated, which had already gone viral during the 2019 elections.

New Delhi (Vishvas News). An infographic viral on social media cites two statements in the name of Home Minister Amit Shah claiming that he allegedly made objectionable remarks about the country’s business community.

Vishvas News in its investigation found it to be fake, which is being made viral with the intention of spreading political propaganda against Amit Shah. Shah did not make any such statement regarding the business community in any political rally or meeting.

This fake and fabricated statement has already gone viral on the media during the last general elections, when Shah was the national president of BJP. The related fact check report can be read here.

Two photographs have been used in the viral graphics. In the first picture, there is a statement of Shah along with his picture, which is a screenshot of a bulletin of Aaj Tak news channel. Shah’s statement mentioned in this screenshot can be read as, “I am a tradesman, trust my words.”

On this basis, during keyword search, we found a bulletin uploaded three years ago on the official YouTube channel of “News24 Bihar & Jharkhand”, in which this statement of Amit Shah is mentioned. Releasing the BJP’s manifesto at a Bengal BJP event, Shah had said, “…I am a tradesman, have faith in me…whatever we have said, we will do it.”

Original video on Aaj Tak’s official Facebook page on 21 March 2021 clip (archive Link) was found, the screenshot of which has been used in the viral post.

It is clear from our investigation that Amit Shah, while releasing the resolution letter of Bengal BJP in 2021, had said, “I am a tradesman, have faith in me.”

In the context of this statement, another statement is mentioned in the viral post, in which objectionable comments have been made about the business community.

During the search, we did not find any such report in which Amit Shah had described the Bania community as “thieves” and “profiteers”. In our investigation, we found that this statement going viral in the name of Amit Shah is fabricated and fake.

The screenshot of the newspaper through which this statement has been mentioned in the viral post, mentions the BJP rally organized in Bundi, Rajasthan.

Keyword search on social media platform Link) video was found and Shah had not given any such statement in this video. The picture of Shah which has been used in the screenshot of the newspaper is from this public meeting.

We contacted BJP’s national spokesperson Dr. Vijay Sonkar Shastri regarding the viral claim. “This is a purely fake statement and this kind of propaganda is being done in view of the elections,” he said.
