Before the announcement of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, a video clip of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge is going viral on social media, in which it is being claimed that during one of his programs he publicly praised the Modi government and said that in the last 45 Inflation and unemployment were reportedly the lowest during his tenure compared to years and he also reportedly admitted that this time Narendra Modi is going to win more than 400 seats.
Vishvas News found this claim false in its investigation. In his address, Kharge, while targeting the election slogan of “Modi hai to mumkin hai”, had said that unemployment and inflation have increased in the country the highest in 45 years and all this has happened during the Modi era. It is being claimed with the viral video that Kharge said in his address, “Unemployment rate, rising inflation is the lowest in the last 45 years under Narendra Modi ji’s government.”
However, after listening to the viral video clip, it becomes clear that he did not say anything like that. The context becomes clear when we listen carefully to the viral video clip, in which Kharge says, “…Agar Modi hai to mumkin hai, this slogan is very popular. So I would say that in Modi’s era…if the highest unemployment happened in 45 years, then it happened during Modi ji’s era. When did the rising inflation become the highest…it happened during the time of Modi ji…Modi ji…!”
It is clear that Kharge mentioned inflation and unemployment in the context of when (time) and held the Modi government responsible for it, but in the viral post, ‘when’ has been shared as ‘less’.
For more clarity, we tried to find the original clip of the viral video with the help of keyword search. This video clip of Kharge has been shared from the official social media handle of the Indian National Congress, in which he held the Modi government responsible for the highest inflation and unemployment in the last 45 years.
While sharing the video clip of Kharge, it is written, “Today there is the highest unemployment in the country in 45 years. Inflation has increased – all this happened during Modi ji’s time. PM Modi does not want the gap between rich and poor to end in the country. Modi ji’s intention is that the rich should become richer and the poor should become poorer.”

This is also mentioned in many other news reports. This video of Kharge is available on the verified YouTube channel of One India, which is of a public meeting held during “Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra” in Madhya Pradesh.
We contacted Uttar Pradesh Congress spokesperson Abhimanyu Tyagi regarding the viral video clip. He said, “The Congress President in his speech had mentioned the highest inflation and unemployment during the Modi government. This can also be heard clearly in the video clip.”
The viral post quoted Kharge as claiming that he had accepted BJP’s election slogan “Abki Baar 400 Paar”. We also found this fake in our investigation. In the original video, he is targeting this election slogan of BJP and not supporting it. Even before this, a clip of his address in Parliament had gone viral, which we found to be fake and altered.
