Amidst the ongoing voting for the Lok Sabha elections 2024, a video is going viral on social media, which is being claimed to be during the voting in the north-eastern state of Manipur, when voting could be done through any button in the EVM. But after the slip with the election symbol of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was released, angry women voters broke the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).

Vishvas News found this to be wrong in its investigation. The video going viral is from Manipur, but it was not a case of voting or mismatch during voting, as is being claimed in the viral post. EVMs were broken in local voters due to allegations of ‘proxy voting’. Besides, re-polling has also been conducted at these polling stations on 22nd April.
