Bukelephobes, both national and those who join in chorus from other countries, whether they are called think tanks, media, journalists or analysts, continue to deny the Salvadoran reality. It is not enough for them how loud and clear our people as a whole expressed themselves, and particularly the citizens residing inside and outside the country, who overwhelmingly (85% and 98%, respectively) gave their support and support to President Bukele. They continue to call him dictator, authoritarian and other epithets that only confirm their visceral hatred of the leader that our people freely and sovereignly elected in 2019 and democratically re-elected this February 4, 2024.

Nayib Bukele is the president with the most votes in the entire democratic history of our country, his mandate was ratified at the polls, his candidacy was totally constitutional, because this is what our Constitution establishes in article 152, No. 1, the same as anyone else. quote and to which they never refer:
“Art. 152.- The following may not be candidates for President of the Republic:
1º- He who has held the presidency of the Republic for more than six months, consecutive or not, during the immediately preceding period, or within the last six months prior to the beginning of the presidential period.

Nayib did not hold the presidency even for a day in the immediately preceding period (2014-2019) because the president was Salvador Sánchez Cerén of the FMLN, nor in the last six months before the start of the next presidential term (June 1, 2024). ), because he has been on leave since December 1, 2023. Therefore, according to the text of that constitutional norm, he was authorized to run as a candidate for a second term.
Let’s see if once and for all they stop repeating that the Salvadoran Constitution did not allow his candidacy for that second term.

On the other hand, his Nuevas Ideas party wins the majority of seats in the Legislative Assembly, enough to make decisions by simple majority and qualified majority, because that is what the sovereign Salvadoran people decided for the second time. The first was in the elections of February 28, 2021, that is, in these elections the people also ratified their majority mandate to the legislative fraction of Nuevas Ideas.

If in fact a dictatorship were being experienced or outlined in our country, it is not Nayib who is building it, it is the Salvadoran people, those of us who live in the national territory and those who live outside, its authors. So, if these coryphaes of the “ancien régime” who lived off the benefits of the old “status quo”, which is historically dying; If they, who are increasingly less relevant in national life, want to look for a dictator to launch their hate-filled darts, there is the dictator people.

And as if the lessons that reality gives them were few, which they cannot understand because they are clouded, their strategy of disqualification and concerted attacks against President Bukele and his government, artfully launched from different forums, newspapers, news programs, opinion programs , etc., the week before the elections, they were reversed like a boomerang, generating the Streisand effect. And instead of affecting the image and popularity of President Bukele, he catapulted it to capitalize on the rejection of our population to the “fake news” on the networks, to the comments and news in the factional press, until giving him that tremendous triumph.

Will there be lessons learned that will lead the languishing political opposition to correct its course? I doubt it, as long as their national and foreign ideologues continue to be obsessed with attacking President Bukele.

If they want to be taken seriously and survive in the national political spectrum, they must learn to accept defeat, carry out a deep introspective analysis to correct their mistakes and stop listening to those who, from positions of comfort, continue to generate confrontation with President Bukele. with inflammatory language and unfounded accusations that only they believe.

The political cost is not paid by those NGOs, by those journalists who seek fame by attacking Bukele, nor by the tabloid media or prepaid analysts. The media sell, they do business, they make money, the NGOs charge and raise their rates every time they become more furious, and the analysts change sides, but those that are condemned to disappear are the political parties that follow their script. Salvadorans are noble and intelligent, so do not offend their intelligence, because, if you insist on these strategies, you will continue to receive rejection from our people.
