Survey on everyday topics from February 14th on ORFfragt.at, results on March 20th in “ORF 1 Special: How is Austria doing? ORF asks”

Vienna (OTS) The ORF is launching a large online survey on everyday topics that are currently affecting many people in Austria. He would like to capture the climate of opinion in the country as a starting point for a well-founded discussion of the realities of life in Austria. For three weeks – from February 14th to March 6th, 2024 – the survey accompanying the show can be answered on the ORFfragt.at website. Participation is anonymous and requires neither a login nor the provision of contact addresses. The project is scientifically supported by the renowned opinion research institute INTEGRAL. The results of the survey will be presented by Mariella Gittler on March 20, 2024 at 9:05 p.m. as part of “ORF 1 Special: How is Austria doing? ORF asks” was presented on ORF 1, then published on the project website and picked up in ORF programs on television, radio and online.

DG Weißmann: Invitation to everyone to take part

The ORF 1 special “How’s Austria?” ORF asks” and the accompanying online survey are part of a large-scale dialogue offensive by the ORF, which aims to strengthen contact with the country’s citizens. As part of a press conference, General Director Mag. Roland Weißmann invited the audience to take part, while also pointing out the strategic dimension of the project: “As ‘ORF for everyone’, we also want to enter into dialogue with everyone. With the ‘ORF asks’ project, we listen to people all over the country, we want to capture the concerns, worries and wishes of our audience and draw conclusions from them for programming. I therefore invite everyone to take part in the big ORF survey in 2024 and am looking forward to the results!”

Represent diversity of opinions

The online questionnaire is based on a representative preliminary survey in which the topic interests of Austrians were determined: It touches on different areas of life and covers a wide range of topics, from inflation to affordable housing, the world of work and health to climate protection. Mag. Eva Sassmann, head of ORF market and media research, who is largely responsible for the project, emphasized:
“’ORF asks’ is about giving the population a platform and reflecting a diversity of opinions. Even if we cannot collect everything in one survey, we have managed to cover a wide range of topics and define relevant focal points. I hope to gain exciting insights into the attitudes of our audience, which will increasingly be incorporated into the ORF’s programming.”

TV show details

Shortly after the end of the three-week survey period, Mariella Gittler presents the central results of the major ORF survey in “ORF 1 Special: How is Austria doing? ORF asks.” She closely examines the Austrian population with studio guests, analyzes and current reports. The show always follows a solution-oriented approach: based on the survey results, the focus is on service information, fact checks and practical tips for consumers on selected topics (March 20, 9:05 p.m., ORF 1).

Continuity and study combination

The dialogue process started with “ORF asks” should not remain a one-off event: the ORF plans to carry out the broadcast and survey at least once a year in the future in order to capture the current mood in the country and to be able to take this into account thematically in the program. In addition to the large ORF survey, the Ö3 youth study will continue to research the realities of Gen Z’s life in a tried and tested manner and will specifically incorporate the perspective of young people into the social discussion. The combination of both studies creates a complex overall picture of the opinion climate in Austria within one calendar year.
