About 100,000 people have rallied against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government to demand a deal to release hostages in Gaza. On Saturday (April 6) there were rallies in other cities of Israel besides Tel Aviv. The British media reported the news.

The protests intensified after the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) recovered the body of one of the hostages, Elad Katzir.

Family members of hostages in Gaza have also joined anti-government protesters.

Demonstrators expressed frustration over the Israeli government’s inability to free about 130 hostages held by Hamas and its allies in Gaza.

Protesters chanted “election now” and “Elad, we’re sorry,” local media reported.

Organizers said protesters rallied in about 50 locations across Israel. Anger has long simmered among Israelis over Prime Minister Netanyahu’s failure to free the remaining hostages in Gaza. This anger has led to a series of large-scale anti-government protests in Israel demanding his resignation.

A car plowed into protests in Tel Aviv. Five people were injured. However, the cause of this incident is not yet known.

The IDF recovered Elad’s body from Gaza on Saturday. On October 7, Hamas attacked southern Israel and took him and others hostage to Gaza. Elad was seen alive in a video released by Hamas last January.

This Sunday marks six months of the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian war. Mediators plan to resume talks in Cairo, Egypt, as part of efforts to reach a ceasefire later today.

According to some media reports, US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director Bill Burns and Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani will join negotiators from Egypt, Israel and Hamas.

At least 33,139 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli aggression since October 7. At least 75 thousand 815 people were injured. And 1,139 Israelis were killed in Hamas attacks.
