The Electoral Institute of Coahuila (IEC) announced that it will use a budget of 1 million pesos to hold five debates between candidates for the mayorships of Torreón, Saltillo, as well as Piedras Negras, Monclova and Sabinas, in which the last three cases will be carried out next May.

The president advisor of the IEC, Rodrigo Germán Paredes Lozano, reported that, as it is an austere budget, some expenses such as the hiring of moderators were dispensed with, so it will be members of the Institute who will fulfill that function, unlike the two who They were held last year with the gubernatorial candidates, which were moderated by journalists Sandra Romandía and Javier Solórzano, as well as Ivonne Melgar and Alejandro Cacho.

In the case of the debate to be held in this city, next Sunday the 21st of this month, a room at the Marriott hotel with capacity for a maximum of 50 people was chosen, and Gabriela Magaly González Vázquez, assistant to the Directorate, will be moderated. of Social Communication of the organization.

Paredes Lozano said that the IEC is not obliged to organize debates when it comes to candidates for city councils, but it was decided to carry them out to give the public the opportunity to know the proposals of each of those who aspire to occupy those positions in the next choice.

Unlike previous exercises, this time there will not be active moderation, so whoever is in charge will not be able to interrupt or point out the candidates; Precise questions will be asked about the selected topics.

NO FUCKING OR APPLAUSEMETER

The debate of the candidates for mayor of Torreón to be held next Sunday the 21st will not have an audience, so supporters will not be allowed to enter either.

Only the media, one representative of each political party and two assistants of each candidate, as well as IEC advisors and the moderator, may be present.

Due to the low budget for carrying out these democratic exercises and the experience of the past debate between gubernatorial candidates, where the presence of batons led to disruption of order, this time the IEC will be very strict with the prohibition of access.

The debate will take place in a room at the Marriott hotel with a maximum capacity of 50 people, to which the five candidates for mayor of Torreón have already confirmed their participation.
