After 60 years, the Indian tennis team has arrived in Pakistan to participate in the Davis Cup, hosting the Indian tennis team for the first time since 1964.
Teams India and Pakistan will compete in the Group One playoff match on the grass courts of the Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad.
Two doubles and two singles matches between the two teams will be played on Saturday (February 3) and Sunday (February 4) while Monday has been kept as a reserve day in case of rain.
However, it is yet to be decided whether spectators will be allowed to watch the match due to security concerns.
The arrival of the Indian team has been welcomed by national tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq.
From a private TV channel Conversation Easam-ul-Haq said that the Indian team has come to Pakistan after a long time. I have always been of the view that you should keep religion and politics out of the game.’
He further informed that in 2019 also the Indian team had refused to come to Pakistan, after which the matches were announced at a neutral venue in Kazakhstan but I had boycotted them.

“Our Davis Cup team did the same with me and we sent an under-14 team to play against the Indian team.”
According to Aisam-ul-Haq, the stand we took in 2019 has played some role this time, because there was an attempt to create the same situation again but we fought the case together with the Pakistan Tennis Federation in which the Indians In a way, he explained that our security forces have sacrificed a lot and done many things to make the country peaceful.
He said: ‘I am happy that the Indian team is here, I am excited for this historic competition.’
Talking about the Indian team’s practice session, Aisam-ul-Haq also said that he is liking the food here.
On the other hand, Sunil Yajman, the manager of the Indian tennis team, said in a conversation with the news agency AFP that his team is looking forward to the competition.
He said: ‘The whole team is very happy and excited to be in Pakistan.’
