The court has granted bail to cultural personality and graphic designer Shamim Ashraf, who was arrested on the charge of spreading false propaganda against the recently ex-Mayor of Mymensingh City Corporation, Ikramul Haque, by making anonymous posters.
Shamim Ashraf was brought to the court on Tuesday (February 20) around 2 pm and applied for bail. After the hearing, Judge Tajul Islam Sohag of Amali Court No. 3, Mymensingh granted his bail.
Court Inspector Shafiqul Islam confirmed the bail to Jago News.

According to sources, district BCL president Al Amin and some leaders of BCL went to Shamim Ashraf’s business at around 9:30 pm on Sunday (February 18). Meanwhile, they requested Shamim Ashraf not to make non-propaganda posters against the former mayor. The matter was live-streamed on social media Facebook.
Aminul Haque Shamim, the vice president of the district Awami League, went there shortly after this incident. A tense situation arose there. Later the police arrested Shamim Ashraf and took him to the police station. Later, when he was taken to court under section 54, the judge fixed the hearing date and ordered him to be sent to jail.
