Economist Víctor Pavón said that the installation of cryptominers in national territory could give a great economic benefit to the country, but for this it is necessary to regulate their operation, with a clear legal and regulatory framework.
He indicated that “cryptocurrencies were gaining ground in the world, as a form of money due to the decision of many people to flee from government interference. “People want to have a digital currency that allows them to make transactions without having to be interfered with by things that have to do with governments.”
When talking about crypto mining farms, Pavón pointed out that “they cannot be allowed to operate without regulatory or normative rigor, as is happening right now in Paraguay, since this gives rise to the commission of crimes.”
“It is in our best interest to install these cryptominers within the regulatory framework so that they can pay low taxes, in relation to the dividends they are getting,” he added.
He stated that “contrary to what some claim, crypto mining does promote job creation, which can be observed in other countries, where this sector moves an important market. What is not seen is the multiplier effect that it can generate.”
Although he agrees that there is a law that regulates and regulates the operation of cryptominers, he does not support the project that, on the subject, is in Congress, which seeks to temporarily prohibit said activity.
“Cryptocurrency mining will continue to grow in Paraguay until a legal framework is established for its operation, but clear rules are necessary for the sector. We can be an example worldwide,” he expressed.
He concluded that it is necessary that “ANDE must promote the legalization of those who have clandestine connections for crypto mining, in order to generate greater profits for the State, taking advantage of the energy capacity of our country.”
