The epidemiological data of the last week (from April 22 to 28) for influenza, coronavirus and RSV was announced by the National Public Health Organization (EODY).
SARS-CoV2 virus – COVID-19 infection
The positivity in all tested samples showed a decrease compared to the previous week.
The number of admissions for COVID-19 reached 83.
At the same time, 3 people became seriously ill and needed intubation. The number of patients with Covid-19 infection who are intubated is 9.
At the same time, 1 death was recorded in a patient with a Covid infection.
The most common sub-variant of BA.2 remains JN.1 (>85% from week 6 onwards)
Viral load surveillance in municipal wastewater showed a reduction in SARS-CoV-2 virus circulation in 2 of the 9 areas tested.
Influenza virus
Influenza positivity in the community remains above 10% (sentinel) which is an indicative seasonal threshold for the onset of epidemic influenza activity according to the ECDC and has recorded a significant decrease compared to the previous week.
1 serious case with hospitalization in ICU was recorded, while no death from laboratory-confirmed influenza was recorded.
Respiratory syncytial virus – RSV
The positivity of RSV in sentinel PHY samples remains at low levels.
