GAZA – Gaza’s state media office reported more than one million cases of infectious disease due to mass displacement in the besieged Gaza Strip.

“Around 1,089,000 cases of infectious diseases and 8,000 cases of hepatitis C were recorded in Gaza,” said the office’s statement on Monday (8/4/2024).

Israel has launched deadly military attacks on the Gaza Strip since the Hamas attack on October 7, which killed nearly 1,200 people.

However, since then, Haaretz has revealed that Israeli army helicopters and tanks have, in fact, killed many of Israel’s own 1,139 soldiers and civilians.

Israel’s genocide has forced more than 1.4 million people to flee their homes and seek refuge in Rafah, the southern tip of the Gaza Strip near the Egyptian border.

“There are 10,000 cancer patients who are at risk of death and are in urgent need of medical care,” the media agency said.

Israel’s onslaught has killed more than 33,200 people and injured nearly 76,000 amid mass destruction and shortages of basic necessities.

Israel also imposed a crippling blockade on the Gaza Strip, causing its residents, especially residents of northern Gaza, to experience starvation.

Israel’s war has caused 85% of Gaza’s population to flee amid shortages of food, clean water and medicine, while 60% of the territory’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, according to the UN.

Israel was accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice which, in an interim ruling in January, ordered Tel Aviv to stop genocidal acts and take action to ensure humanitarian aid is provided to civilians in Gaza.
