In 2014, after the region was going through a very complicated issue due to insecurity, a group of Laguneros met to think about how the quality of life could be improved and one of the conclusions they reached is that through citizen participation, so they began to develop projects to improve this area.
In this context, the La Laguna Civic Association emerged, with a structure of providing leadership, citizenship and social entrepreneurship tools to the people of the region, so that they themselves could develop their social projects.
Arturo Aranda Zamudio, director of the La Laguna Civic Association, said that It has been 10 years of promoting citizen participation through its training programs, such as Young Leaders, Soy Líder, as well as the La Laguna Leaders Networkthrough which 3,500 Laguneros have been impacted, in addition to a collaboration network of 220 civil society actors.
The Association is made up of exhibitors, leaders who contribute their knowledge and time to train citizens, their courses are free and they are constantly seeking to make links, as well as establish collaboration networks with different institutions.
As part of the celebration for the 10th anniversary, this Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at the Arocena Museum there will be a conference meeting, where Gustavo Madero, from the Plural group of the Senate, will participate; Pilar Parás, former president of the Mexican Center for Philanthropy, AC, who They will talk about citizen participation from a political and social perspective, respectively.
In addition, 10 people and movements will be recognized for their citizen participation, which has been a reflection of their effort and work in the region.
