The city of Innsbruck has been nominated for the European Mobility Award for its commitment during the EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK 2023.

Vienna (OTS) The city of Innsbruck was nominated for the EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK Award for its impressive activities in the field of sustainable mobility. This award recognizes cities and municipalities that have made an outstanding contribution to promoting the mobility transition during the EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK. Innsbruck’s nomination was based on its commitment and innovative measures to promote sustainable and active mobility during the EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK in 2023.

“We are proud to be nominated for the EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK Award. This nomination is recognition of our continuous efforts to make mobility in Innsbruck more sustainable and to improve the quality of life of our citizens. We are firmly determined to continue on this path and advance the mobility transition in our city,” says Mag.a Uschi Schwarzl, Innsbruck’s city councilor for the environment, energy and mobility.

The EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK 2023 in Austria was under the motto #MakeMeter and offered citizens the opportunity to shape the mobility transition together. Innsbruck has made a significant contribution to promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly mobility with a variety of events. The campaigns “Sitting instead of parking” and “Blooming Street” as well as numerous information events and a bike cinema are remembered. Overall, there were many individual events that were actively organized by a wide variety of people from Innsbruck and supported with motivation by the Tyrol Climate Alliance.

Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler congratulated Innsbruck on the nomination and emphasized the importance of sustainable mobility for the future: “Innsbruck has shown that climate-friendly mobility should be a priority. The nomination is a great award for everyone who worked so hard on the EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK.”

The winners of the EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK Awards will be announced at a ceremony on March 14, 2024 in Brussels. Further information about the EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK and the activities in Innsbruck can be found on the official website of the Mobility Week: www.mobilitaetswoche.at
