RAB arrested a Chhatra League leader named Abdur Rahman Prakash Anik along with a firearm in Lakshmipur. It is known that he is accused in the murder case of Jasim Uddin, a college student in Begumganj, Noakhali.
The police handed him over to the Lakshmipur court on Monday (March 25) afternoon. A case has been filed against him under Arms Act at Chandraganj Police Station.
Earlier on Sunday (March 24) at around 1.30 am, RAB arrested Anik along with his weapon in a raid conducted by RAB-11 from Poll No. 1 area of Chandraganj Bazar in Chandraganj Union of Sadar Upazila.
Anik Chandraganj Kofil Uddin University College Branch Chhatra League President Candidate and Former President of Honors (BBA) Second Year Branch of the College. He is known as a follower of Kazi Mamunur Rashid Bablu, convenor of Chandraganj Thana Swachhasevak League.
Arrested Anik is the son of Abdul Haque of West Latifpur village of Chandraganj Union.
According to sources, on September 6, 2020, the murder of Jasim Uddin, a college student, took place in Jahanabad village of Begumganj, Noakhali. Anik is accused in the murder case.
Naib Subedar Miraj Ali Bhuiyan of Noakhali Camp of RAB-11 filed a case against him under Arms Act as plaintiff on Monday afternoon. At the same time, RAB handed him over to the Thana police for further legal action.
In this regard, Rashid Bablu, convener of Chandraganj Thana Swachhasevak League, Kazi Mamunur, was contacted, but he refused to give any statement.
Chandraganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Emdadul Haque told Jago News, RAB has handed over the accused to us after the case. He was handed over to the Lakshmipur court in the arms case. The court ordered him to be sent to the district jail.
