Charges against five councilors of Chimichagua for ‘partying’ on the premises

The Attorney General’s Office issued a statement of charges against five councilors of Chimichagua, Cesar, for their alleged responsibility and participation in a party organized at the facilities of the Municipal Council of that town on August 30, 2022, to celebrate the birthday of the Councilor of that corporation, Rosa Elvira Palomino Piñeres.

The situation was reported to the Provincial Attorney’s Office of El Banco, by citizens who provided a video as evidence, in which the councilors involved are seen celebrating in the official premises, a fact that went viral on social networks.

According to the analysis made of the audiovisual material by investigators from the Attorney General’s Office, to verify its legitimacy, “it is evident that people, including men and women at night, shared in a celebration in which music was heard at a high level , with which they danced wildly (…) one of the women was carrying a green bottle whose characteristics coincide with those of Buchanan’s whiskey,” the indictment states.

The fault imposed on the municipal councilors was provisionally classified as serious, as serious fault, for having failed to comply with their obligations by ignoring their duty to use the aforementioned premises only for the performance of their positions or functions.

“These assets were wrongly used for acts and activities other than the performance of the purposes for which they were assigned, thus violating the norms provided for in the law,” the Public Ministry states in its indictment.

THE ‘PARRANDÓN’

Through the videos broadcast on social networks, the president of the corporation, Johannys Iglesia Herrera, was at the party; the secretary, Johana Pava; Pedronel Martínez, from the Cambio Radical party; Rosa Elvira Palomino and Aracelis López of the Conservative party.

At the time, some people denounced that the “party” took place after the approval of a project for the amount of one billion pesos. However, the corporation explained that the celebration corresponds to the celebration of a councilor’s birthday.

Once the embarrassing episode was known to the public, the Municipal Council of Chimichagua issued a statement in which the president, Johannys Iglesia Herrera, apologized to the entire community and especially to those people who have had the right to trust the councilors. to represent their democratic interests, due to the events presented on August 30, where a sharing was held for the birthday of the Honorable Rosa Elvira Palomino and in which unfortunately the venue was used for such an event. They claim that, although they used the Council’s facilities, they were not carrying out their work.

“We know of course that it was not good and nothing justifies it, that is why we reiterate our apologies, taking into account that the best is expected of us and we must set an example in this regard, but we are aware that it does not substantially affect functional duties, since We were not in the exercise of our function. It is our mistake, but we assume it with great responsibility, we are human and that is why we are asking for these sincere apologies, showing our faces and facing this situation as it should be,” the statement reads.
