Intel introduced the new 14th Generation Core HX processors for laptops along with the latest 14th Generation Core processors for desktops and the new Core U Series 1 family for lightweight, low-power laptops.

At CES, Intel unveiled its full lineup of 14th-generation Intel Core processors, including the HX series for laptops and mainstream 65- and 35-watt desktop processors.

The 14th Generation Intel Core HX family of laptop processors is designed for gamers, creators and professionals who need a higher level of computing performance. It is led by the Core i9-14900HX model with 24 cores, eight of which are for performance and 16 for efficiency, and 32 threads.

Intel presented its news for 2024 as part of CES.

These processors offer a turbo frequency of up to 5.8GHz that provides up to 17% more gaming performance and up to 51% more multitasking performance than the competition. It also supports up to 192GB of total DDR5-5600 MT/S memory.

The new HX series features overclocking capabilities, including support for Intel Extreme Utility (XTU) and Intel Extreme Memory Profile (XMP), and support for Intel Application Optimization (APO) technology, which determines and directs application resources on time real to improve the performance of compatible applications.

These laptop processors support Thunderbolt 5, which offers 80 Gbps of bi-directional bandwidth and a boost in bandwidth that provides up to 120 Gbps; and Thunderbolt 4, which offers 40 Gbps bandwidth for PC connectivity to multiple 4K monitors and accessories. It also integrates Intel WiFi 6E (Gig+) and Intel WiFi 7 (5 Gig), Bluetooth 5.4 and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity.

The technology company confirmed that the 14th generation Intel Core HX family consists of over 60 systems and will hit the market this year.

14TH GENERATION INTEL CORE FOR DESKTOP

Intel has also expanded its 14th generation Core processor family for desktop computers, with 18 new processors completing this lineup, aimed at conventional 65- and 35-watt computers.

The latest desktop processors feature a turbo frequency of up to 5.8GHz that delivers up to 37% faster multi-thread performance and up to 7% faster gen-over-gen Microsoft Office performance.

They come with up to 24 cores (eight performance cores, 16 efficiency cores) and 32 threads in the i9-14900 processors. In the case of the i7-14700, four efficiency cores are added for a total of 20 cores (eight performance cores, 12 efficiency cores) and 28 threads.

They also support up to 192GB of DDR5-5600/DDR4-3200 MT/S memory in total, ensuring compatibility with existing Intel 600 and 700 motherboards. And ongoing support for integrated thermal solutions, including Intel Laminar RH1 and RM1 heatsinks.

In connectivity they have support for Intel Killer WiFi 7 (5 Gig) and Intel Killer WiFi 6E (Gig+); with PCIe Gen 5.0, Gen 4.0 and Thunderbolt 4; as well as support for USB 3.2 connectivity.

FOR LIGHTWEIGHT, LOW-POWER POWER LAPTOP COMPUTERS

At CES 2024, Intel also presented the new Core U Series 1 processor family for lightweight, low-power portable systems. It is driven by the Intel Core 7150U model, with 10 cores, 12 threads and turbo frequencies up to 5.4 GHz.

The Intel Core U 1-series processor offers up to 96GB of total DDR5-5200/DDR4-3200 MT/S memory. Plus Thunderbolt 4, Bluetooth 5.4 and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity and compatibility with Intel Killer WiFi 7 (5 Gig) and Intel Killer WiFi 6E (Gig+). Additionally, it supports eight PCIe Gen 4.0 lanes and 12 PCIe Gen 3.0 lanes for storage on newer solid-state drives (SSDs).

Mobile systems equipped with the Intel Core U Series 1 processor will hit the market in the first quarter of 2024.

Intel presented its news for 2024 as part of CES.

During this presentation, the new Core Ultra systems were also revealed which, for Intel, mark the beginning of the era of computers equipped with artificial intelligence.
