Cathy Barriga risks preventive detention after review of precautionary measures requested by the Prosecutor’s Office

Indeed what was feared was fulfilled. The Eastern Prosecutor’s Office, upon learning of the non-compliance with Cathy Barriga’s house arrest, presented her with a document to request a hearing to review precautionary measures.

The person accused of fraud against the treasury – for more than 30 billion – and falsification of public instruments, did not attend the visit of uniformed officers on four occasions: on April 12, April 23, April 25 and April 28. This, after they formalized it on January 16.

Carabineros from the Malloco Estate, who went to check the home of the former mayor of Maipú, presented a document to the court in which they reported the non-compliance and, in addition, requested a statement, since a violation of this measure could generate a request for review of the precautionary measure by the prosecution. That’s how it happened.

This Monday, Barriga had requested the court to lift his house arrest. The ninth Guarantee Court denied his request, but granted him outings on Fridays of this month to take his son to therapy in the V region.

Now, this exit may be at risk. Upon learning of the breach of house arrest, the Prosecutor’s Office “immediately decided to present the brief to review the precautionary measures of the accused on the date that the court must decide.”

The former dancer’s defense, however, alleged excessive controls, since since January she has been visited more than 200 times and even during the early hours of the morning, that is, an average of 2.1 visits per day until today.
