Case registered for ‘suspicious letters’ received by High Court judges

A case has been registered against eight judges including Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Amir Farooq for receiving ‘suspicious letters’.

This case has been registered under the provisions of terrorism in the complaint of Islamabad High Court Clerk Qadeer Ahmed.

According to the text of the FIR, eight envelopes were distributed by Deputy Messenger Ikramullah. There were letters to all the judges which I myself distributed.’

Qamar Khurshid told on the phone that the letters should not be opened because they contain chemicals. Immediately after, all the readers were also instructed not to open the envelopes.

It is further written in the FIR that ‘Masmat Reshamm and unknown persons have tried to influence the cases. The local police have been informed of the entire situation.’

“A mixture of white powder was found on four envelopes which were opened. The justice system has been criticized by referring to Tehreek-e-Namos Pakistan on the envelopes.

Earlier, during the hearing of the cipher case on Tuesday, the Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court had revealed that ‘all of us judges received suspicious letters, in which anthrax was mentioned. The letters mainly contain threats. This was the reason why the sitting of the division bench was delayed today.

According to Islamabad High Court staff: ‘Eight judges, including Chief Justice Amir Farooq, received suspicious letters written by a woman named Resham Ahlia Waqar Hussain. The woman’s address was not there on the letters.’

After receiving the threatening letters, Islamabad High Court summoned IG Islamabad and DIG Police, after which a team of experts from Islamabad Police reached Islamabad High Court.

The court staff said that when the staff opened the letter, there was a saffron inside. After opening the letter, the eyes started burning. The affected official immediately used sanitizer and washed his hands.

The staff added that ‘there is also a threatening sign inside the letter.

A team of experts will investigate the powder found in suspicious letters to the judges of the Islam High Court, which has been handed over to the Anti-Terrorism Department.
