Carlos Vives received tribute and the title of “Leyenda” at the Latin American Music Awards 2023

On the night of April 20, the 2023 Latin American Music Awards ceremony took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in the city of Las Vegas, United States. The important awards that celebrate Latin music had an evening in which the tricolor flag was raised with 11 awards, eight of those went to the paisa Karol G, but also with special recognition for the Samario Carlos Vives.

The year 2023 is quite special for Carlos Vives, as he is celebrating 30 years of his musical career, which he has celebrated by releasing a new album called “Escalona: Never had it been recorded like this”, in which samarium is put back on in the shoes of Rafael Escalona, ​​after having performed it in the 90s.

Not only has the 61-year-old artist wanted to commemorate his career in a special way, also in the edition of the Latin American Music Awards 2023, tribute was paid to the significant work that Carlos Vives has done over the last three decades to highlight the traditional sounds of Colombia. That is why they awarded him the Legend Award at the gala.

In the middle of the eighth edition of the Latin American Music Awards, the Colombian singer, composer and actor was honored in the middle of the musical piece he gave on stage and in which he participated with some of the leading artists of the new generation, transporting to the public for the greatest successes of his career. Artists such as Guaynaa, Lele Pons, Jesse and Joy, Ryan Castro and Emilia sang his songs alongside him.

In addition, Caros Vives attended the gala with three nominations for “Best Artist – Tropical”, “Best Album – Tropical” for Cumbiana II and “Best Collaboration – Tropical” for Baloncito Viejo with Camilo. Although he did not win any award, the Samarian artist from “Rock de mi pueblo” received an important tribute at the ceremony and the Legend award.

“30 years ago, music showed me two paths: to copy what was successful at the time and the other was to transform the music of my land, to feel proud to be Colombian and to give our music the level it deserved and that is what I have done in these 30 years,” said Carlos Vives upon receiving the award.

On stage, with the energy that characterizes him, Vives performed great hits such as “Pa’ Mayte”, “Volví a Nacer”, “Robarte Un Beso”, and his most recent single “El Carro Ford” which is part of his album commemorative for his 30 years of career. At the end of his show, the audience at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in the city of Las Vegas gave a standing ovation to the Colombian artist who has been known for enhancing traditional sounds.
